Britain’s favorite couple, David and Victoria Beckham, are making their 2007 move to the States official — they’re selling their infamous Beckingham Palace in England and permanently settling in Los Angeles.

Bursting any bubbles the English may have had that the power couple would find their way back across the pond, the 1930s Georgian property went up for sale this weekend at £18,000,000, which according to my little currency converter, equals to around $27.5 million. Holy crap.

No offense to the Brits, but this was a very smart financial move on their part, which comes few and far between in the celebrity world.

Reportedly, the decision to sell came after hired accountants examined their income, who found that they were wasting spending hundreds of thousands on running their worldwide homes. being that this property was by far the biggest money guzzler, they chose to nix it.

Along with the obvious financial reasons, there are plenty of other arguments they could make for deciding to permanently stay in LA.

Though currently injured, David Beckham is under contract with the LA Galaxy soccer team for at least another three years. considering that his contract is worth approximately $18.4 million, I’m guessing he’s not planning on going anywhere for awhile.
Their three boys Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, 8, and Cruz, 5, are settled, and are even running around with cute little American accents.
They definitely don’t have a lack for “retreats,” being that they still own a friggin’ chateau in France and a luxury apartment in Dubai.
They schmooze with the best — would you want to move anywhere else if you were BFFs with the likes of Tom Cruise, Eva Longoria, and Heidi Klum? Didn’t think so.
Victoria Beckham’s fashion line is blowing up. She’s even showing her new collection at the upcoming Fashion Week in NYC.
They’ll have a smaller London apartment for their Britain business.
Three words: Los Angeles weather.

Sure the mansion has tennis courts, a recording studio, petting zoo, swimming pools, and a “snooker” room (huh?), but, as my mama always said, what’s the point of having it if you’re not going to use it?

Think the Beckhams are being smart by getting rid of their England estate?

Taxes: SM LLC given loan with interest from Dad – how to report to IRS?

This year my single-member LLC has begun trading stocks as well as currencies (Forex). the initial money came from my Dad in which we agreed that my business would pay him a flat 10% return on his money and I'd get to keep anything I generate above that.

How does (or does it) need to be reported when I file my taxes next year?

1) do I need to report the initial amount even though its not really my money and certainly isn't profit?

2) How do I report that the money that I pay him every year isn't part of my taxable income? Can I just report the amount and interest and write it off?

3) I have electronic records for all trades – how much detail need to be given the IRS? all trades or summary?

PS – I'd consider paying a professional, but since my gains will be pretty low, I'd hate to pay most of it to someone to file my taxes. Does anyone know of any good online sources to find tax preparers? I'm sure there a number out there that'd be happy to make some $ in their spare time.

You are a single member LLC, WHY? If you live in California, you have a $800 annual tax just because you did that.

1) the loan is neither income nor an expense, so it would not be reported on Schedule C.

2) all of your gain, including any amount paid on the loan as interest, is taxable. however, the interest paid on the loan is deducted as an expense. this effectively results in no tax being paid on the loan interest, since it is added into your income and then subtracted as an expense.

3) all trades. Attach a spreadsheet and mail in your return.

The above does not address the correctness of whether you are a professional investor or not. Contact a tax advisor who can help you determine your correct status and whether you will benefit from the mark to market election.

As for the loan from your Dad the short answer is that it is not reported as income. You can report the money you pay him as interest on the loan of capital (should have a written contract as support). If you are trading stocks you will need to report every sale as they all will be reported to the IRS on a 1099B. as for help from a tax professional you might find that they scatter as soon as you say something like "day trader". the only ones that will still be there are going to charge you a great deal (and they will earn it). You would be wise to go take a tax preparation course and learn how to properly do them yourself. Don't just go online and try it without some training or you will be spending a great deal of time dealing with letters from the IRS.

1)The money you report to the IRS is money your business earned. If all business's reported loans, or investments made to their companies, the taxes to pay would be ridiculous.

2)Monies you pay out don't necessarily have to be reported. You just record those as business expenses. I think reporting the interest paid out as an expense is the best thing to do. It would be dishonest to report you paying him out $1000 return on a $10000 investment if you don't report the investment.

3)I file taxes for my family and their businesses as well as my own businesses. all that needs t be given is a summary or estimation. to go over everything with a fine tooth comb can be very time consuming and time is money. Estimates when reporting your taxes is best. Even for deductions and write-offs.

I used Taxact.com to file my parents taxes. I put my dad as a Sole Proprietor of his business and used a W-9 to present his earnings in a taxable form. the good thing about his businesses are they are tax exempt so there is limited filing we have to do. One of my business's is wedding and event planning so I try to reconcile my records every 3 months so it's not a hassle to pay annually or to reconcile annually.
