NEW YORK, June 9 (Reuters) – Electricity prices in spite of

delivery on Thursday across much of the eastern United States

and Canada climbed, with PJM up on forecasts for warmer weather

expected to boost cooling require.

In Texas however, ERCOT prices held steady as weaker

natural aeriform fluid prices offset stronger demand forecasts.

* In Virginia, Dominion’s Surry 1 reactor imprison for short

work.

* In Vermont, Entergy fixed a valve at the Vermont Yankee

reactor and be inclined keep the unit at full power.

* In Ontario, OPG’s Nanticoke 5 coal unit returned to

service, while Unit 7 shut for short work.

* In Georgia, Southern reduced the Hatch 1 reactor to 28

percent to fasten a condenser vacuum problem.

The average heat rate for gas plants in the United States

is end for end 8,600 Btu/kilowatt-hour while the most efficient,

least lavish to operate combined-cycle units have heat rates

below 7,000.

Natural gas is the primary fuel for more than 40 percent of

the endowment plants in New York, about 40 percent of the units in

New England, 20 percent of the units in the Midwest ISO and

not so much than 15 percent in PJM.

Gas is the primary fuel concerning more than 70 percent of the

generation in Texas, 70 percent of the volume in Entergy, 49

percent in Florida and just 28 percent in the rest of the

Southeast.
